The Fishing Log actually serves two purposes. The most obvious is to record the fish caught and the circumstances during which they were caught. Each main record represents a single day. Within that day of fishing you can record multiple catches of fish and further break them down by species, lure used, and other details.

The second purpose is to record observations made that day. Being observant about fish behavior is an important part of fishing success. Keeping accurate accounts of where the fish were on the body of water, their depth, the spawning time (pre-spawn or post-spawn), and the weather and water conditions will all contribute to your ability to catch fish.
Remember to enter notes about the performance of your equipment too in the Notes field. Maybe that new fly line didn’t cast as well as you hoped, or maybe it worked even better than you hoped. Maybe your waders need a patch on the right knee, or maybe you dinged your john boat on some rocks and it needs repair.
Accurate, detailed records will not only help you maintain your current equipment, they can also help you make intelligent decisions when buying new equipment.
The Fishing Log also allows you create a Checklist of equipment that you can print prior to a trip and it offers a Fish Weight Calculator so that you can determine the weight of your catch after the trip.

Quick Total for the Year
This report doesn't actually print; it's displayed to the screen in a small window. That's why it's quick!
Choose the species of fish you want to report on and click Print. All quantities associated with the selected species and the word "me" in the Caught By field in the Fishing Log for the current year are totalled and displayed.
Fish and Angler
This report lets you choose a species of fish and the angler who caught them. It includes yearly totals.
Fish Caught
This report lets you choose an angler and click Print. The report then lists all of the fish species caught by that angler. If you leave the Angler field blank and click the Print All button, the report lists all fish caught by all anglers.
Fish Caught by Lure
This report lists all fish caught, regardless of species or angler, and groups them by the fly/lure/bait used to catch them, entered in the Fishing Log. This is a handy way to see which fly/lure/bait is the most successful.
Fish Caught by Location
This report lists all fish caught, regardless of species or angler, and groups them by the Fishing Location entered in the Fishing Log. This is an effective way of determining how productive one location may be over another.
Fishing Trip Checklist
The checklist holds up to 36 items. After printing the checklist, check off each item as you pack it.
Blank Fishing Log Input Sheets
The Blank Log Entry Input Sheets is a report consisting of blank forms that you can take along and fill-in during your fishing trip. When you return home, you can transfer the information from the completed forms to the Fishing Log at your leisure.
