Survival Kit

If you head into the back country, it's a good idea to take along a survival kit for those "Just in case" situations. because you just never know what might happen. Here's a recommendation on a survival kit from one of the MohrOutdoor staff:

I vacuum seal the following items in a bag and store it in the bottom of my pack. I take it everywhere: hunting, hiking, scouting, or when fishing out-of-the-way places.

Here are the items in my kit:

• 2 emergency candles
• 2 snap light sticks
• 1 pack of fire starters
• 2 packs of waterproof matches
• 1 bottle of water-purification tablets
• a small basic first aid kit: bandages, bite cream, antibiotic jell and wipes
• a mirror
• a whistle
• a small flashlight and 4 extra batteries
• 1 space blanket
• flagging tape and a magic marker

All of that might seem like a lot of stuff, but it doesn’t take up much space and doesn’t weight much.

Vacuum sealing it compresses everything so they take up less room. This small package and little weight just might save your life someday.
